Pep Guardiola Fears Sergio Aguero Could Be Out Awhile

Manchester City have certainly suffered more than their fair share of injuries this season. It looks like the situation could get worse before it gets better, with striker supreme Sergio Aguero thought to potentially be out now for some time. The 31-year-old centre forward hobbled off after 77 minutes in City’s 2-1 win over Chelsea yesterday and got replaced by the Brazilian Gabriel Jesus.

“Hopefully we’ll know tomorrow [Sunday], but the first indication is not good,” City manager Pep Guardiola said of the Premier League’s sixth all-time leading scorer after the victory yesterday. “I think it’s a muscular injury. [We could be without] him for some days of the toughest part of our season.”

“The doctor says tomorrow we are going to see but he thought it was a kick but I think he stretched a little bit,” the Spaniard added. We’ll know more if/when the team reveals the results of the scans, but there have been reports circulating that Aguero could be out for up to several weeks.

In 16 competitions, he has scored 13 times, so he’s obviously a player they can ill afford to miss. It appears we won’t see him in the midweek UCL competition, and should he be sidelined several weeks, he could miss games against Newcastle, Burnley and Manchester United.
