Zlatan Ibrahimovic has hit back at those who claimed he was over the hill, and too old to move to the English Premier League. He’s done it with typical “I am Zlatan” flair too. It’s acerbic response includes obscenities, vulgarities, curse words, swearing, whatever you want to call it, it’s all there.
Zlatan, Manchester United’s top scorer on the 2016-17 season, entered the New Year’s Eve fixture against Middlesbrough having scored 11 times in his past 10 across all competitions. For the season, he has 17 goals in 27 matches, but he was robbed of an 18th brace.
Had official Lee Mason not made such a blown call, the Swedish striker would have equalled Lionel Messi’s 2016 combined total for club and country. Messi scored 51 goals in ’16, Zlatan would been level, had the call stood.
Indeed the 35-year-old Zlatan is aging like a fine wine, and to those who believed he was way past his prime, he had very strong words.
“It gives me a lot of energy, trust me,” Ibrahimovic is quoted in The Guardian.
“A lot of energy, because they get paid to talk shit and I get paid to play with my feet — that’s how I enjoy it.”
“I had a fantastic year. At PSG it was amazing, and I came to United and my first six months here have been more than amazing.”
“I came to the Premier League and everyone thought it would not be possible but, like always, I make them eat their balls.”
Damn Ibra!!!! Tell us how you really feel. Well, this is a very refreshing change of pace here from Ibrahimovic. It’s certainly much much better than “we just gave 110% and I’m just one man, and hats off to our opponent and all that other kind of nonsense.”
