Xherdan Shaqiri is having trouble fitting in at Bayern Munich, but he will be be on the move away from Allianz Arena during the January transfer window. Shaqiri has been told he can leave Bayern Munich this winter, according to the Bundesliga club’s honorary president Franz Beckenbauer. This is a huge boost to all the clubs that have been interested in the Swiss international, including Manchester United, Liverpool and Napoli.
According to ESPN FC, Shaqiri said he would have joined Liverpool in the summer had Bayern not vetoed the move while he has bemoaned his lack of match action and asked for talks about his future.
“Bayern have already signalled to him that he can probably leave in the winter break, if he wants to,” Beckenbauer told Sky Sport Deutschland. “I think it’s a shame, though, because he’s amazingly talented.”
So with Xherdan Shaqiri being set free, who will be United’s biggest rivals for his signature?
TUTTOmercatoWEB say that Napoli Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on Shaqiri. The midfielder and World Cup star was a hot item this past summer too. According to the gossip pages, Roma also rivaled Liverpool for the Switzerland winger. A Swiss publication, Blick, said that LFC were now in pole position to sign the player rated at £14.2 million. However, a Daily Mail story today claims this: “Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he currently has no interest in signing players in January, despite the club’s poor form.”
Not I actually believe that. I’m sure Liverpool will be acquiring players this winter window.
