Manchester United super supporter and fastest man alive Usain Bolt will sadly not fulfill his lifelong dream of suiting up for the club. Bolt, perhaps the greatest sprinter in track and field history, was slated to play in the Man United legends game, a friendly against Barcelona on September 2.
Usain Bolt suffered a hamstring injury in this past weekend’s World Athletics Championships during the 4 x 100 race.
“Sadly I have tear of the proximal myotendinous junction of biceps femoris in my left hamstring with partial retraction. 3 months rehab,” he tweeted, before deleting the posting.
What makes this unfortunate story even sadder is that Bolt sustained the injury in his farewell race.
The match, which will feature United club legends against their Barcelona counterparts in about a couple weeks, is a fund-raiser that benefits the Manchester United Foundation and the work that the organization does in the local community.
