It’s fitting that the widow of Ray Wilkins, Jackie, will present the FA Cup trophy and winner’s medals to whichever side, Manchester United or Chelsea, emerges victorious in the tournament final today. That’s because Wilkins played for, and made a massive impact on, both teams in the competition.

Ray Wilkins, who passed away from cardiac arrest at the age of 61 in early April, will also be honored with a banner at Wembley Stadium and a tribute in the match day program.

“It is particularly fitting that both clubs and the wider football community will unite to remember Ray Wilkins on the day,” said FA chairman Greg Clarke. “Ray had a longstanding affinity with the competition, winning it as both a player and as an assistant manager. He is sorely missed.”

Typically, the silverware is handed out by Prince William, the Football Association President of the past 12 years. The Duke of Cambridge, who is admittedly an Aston Villa supporter, has something more important to do today.

You might have heard a thing or two about it- the Royal Wedding? Prince William is the best man in the wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Astoundingly, more like egregiously, this ceremony is publicly funded. by taxpayers. Yes, the taxpayers are picking up the bill for the monarchy’s soiree.
