When Manchester United played the away leg of their UEFA Champions League knockout round tie with Sevilla, the match was so tedious it conjured up memories of the Louis van Gaal era. United cannot afford to perform like that again. The stakes are way too high, as a place in the quarterfinals is on the line.
Speaking ahead of this match, United midfielder Ander Herrera, made the controversial remark that he would be willing to trade a Man City Premier League title for a Champions League trophy. The Spaniard also admitted that winning the UCL would have a very special place in his heart, and one could assume that it would mean a lot more to him than the FA Cup, Europa League and League Cup trophies did.
Also, Herrera’s midfield mate, Nemanja Matic said this match might be the most important of the season. You know, just in case you needed more reason to get amped for this one.
That all said, let’s look at who United manager Jose Mourinho might include in his starting XI, as his side hope to get a goal (hopefully more, but at least one this time) Tuesday night versus the Spanish side.
Marcus Rashford Romelu Lukaku Alexis Sanchez
Marouane Fellaini Nemanja Matic Scott McTominay
Ashley Young Eric Bailly Chris Smalling Antonio Valencia
David de Gea
