Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho met the media yesterday to preview his side’s UEFA Champions League clash at Benfica tonight (video of the press conference available at this link) and the tail end of the session got somewhat testy.
Mourinho was queried about some of the recent comments he made- in which he said he does not envision himself finishing his career at Old Trafford, and also praised what Paris Saint-Germain is doing right now extensively.
The Portugese didn’t reveal much team news at his news conference, as his somewhat contentious back and forth with reporters about his future at the club certainly overshadowed everything else that was said.
Mourinho was widely criticized for both his comments and how he handled the reaction to them. Some said that he wasn’t classy in how he went about it, and that Sir Alex Ferguson would never conduct himself in such a manner. Whether you love or hate Mourinho, you’re going to have to get used to him being around longer, because reportedly he is in contract extension talks with Old Trafford.
“Jose Mourinho has held talks with Manchester United about a new contract but he is no rush to sign a new deal” and “However, with 20 months remaining on Mourinho’s existing deal, neither party is said to be in any hurry to conclude negotiations.”
Mourinho is currently in the second year of his three season contract at Old Trafford.
