Memphis Depay is quite possibly the next buy for Manchester United Executive Vice Chairman Ed Woodward. The Red Devils are also closing in on the PSV star. The Holland international has been attracting interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, and could soon seal an £18m switch to Old Trafford, says the Daily Express.
Memphis Depay was a huge asset for The Dutch during the World Cup in Brazil. He was a big reason that The Netherlands were so dominating early on in group play of the tournament. He showed a lot of chemistry working un Louis van Gaal, so that led to rumors that LVG might want to bring him to Old Trafford too. Of course, Memphis Depay has also been heavily linked to Tottenham Hotspur, with some outlets even claiming that White Hart Lane was about to close the deal. It was rumored to be for cash and Nacer Chadli.
PSV manager Phillip Cocu admits that Depay looks set to leave the club.
Speaking to Helden, he said: “Of course Memphis Depay will be sold, you can’t stop that but it’s okay.
“It’s great you can build up a player like him, who breaks through, succeeds at PSV then leaves the club when he’s ready for a bigger step. That’s great.”
