Attacking midfielder Marouane Fellaini says he is singled out at Manchester United but he will not change his style. Fellaini spoke out about why he’s such a polarizing figure with United supporters, and he believes it could be because of his connections to failed former Manager David Moyes.
Moyes “led” United to a seventh place finish during his disastrous one year in charge at Old Trafford. Fellaini was his lone major summer signing.
Since both men came to United from Everton, on huge money deals, they are symbolically inter-twined. Fellaini currently is and likely always will be viewed by United supporters as a total flop.
“My family care more than me,” Fellaini told The Telegraph.
“I am a professional, so I have to deal with it. I try not to listen. Sometimes it is difficult, but that is football and playing for a big club. Sometimes I don’t understand it. Why me? I don’t know.”
“Sometimes, I say yes it is because I joined with David Moyes, sometimes I say no. The truth is I don’t know. I know one thing, a lot of people know I work hard on the pitch and for me that’s the most important thing.”
Marouane Fellaini showed some depth and introspection with those comments there. He also showed a sense of security in who he is and what he’s accomplished.
