We know Premier League fans are some of the most passionate sports fans in the world. Perhaps the most passionate fans in the world. And Manchester United are maybe the most passionate of all. By many measures, Manchester United is the most popular sports team in the world. At least measurements of social media metrics have United first. One specific fan, Rashid Yiga of Uganda won a bet against his Arsenal supporting friend.
When 8th place Manchester United upset 1st place Arsenal on Sunday, what did Yiga put on the line?
As well as his new Toyota Premio car, Yiga was so confident that United would win that he bet his wife on the result, according to the Uganda Observer.
Yes, when the Red Devils beat the Gunners at Old Trafford Yiga was able to retain his wife and his car. So the next logical question is, what did his Arsenal fan friend put on the line?
According to the Daily mail:
A Gunners fan lost his house after betting a friend that the Premier League leaders would run out winners at Old Trafford.
Henry Dhabasani staked his two-roomed house in Iganga, in eastern Uganda, on the result of the match.
