This is one of the more interesting interesting feature stories that I saw out there today in the Manchester United Twitterverse- it’s a dream team Manchester United starting XI and it comes to us via the Manchester Evening News. Rather clever idea- polling supporters to get their picks.

No surprises here with Gareth Bale, Mats Hummels, Raphael Varane and Memphis DePay added to the tweet. You’ll also notice there’s no Radamel Falcao, Angel Di Maria or Robin van Persie on this hypothetical pitch. Can’t argue with those ideas either.
David de Gea retains the goalkeeper position, as he should. Most importantly, I’m glad to see the fans voted to retain Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Michael Carrick in the Manchester United starting XI dream team. I feel all three of those guys go under-appreciated and I believe that Louis van Gaal doesn’t play them enough.
So it’s a good thing to see the voters include them in the Manchester United starting XI.
By the way, here is the first line-up projection that The Sports Bank came up with for Saturday versus Aston Villa.
And here is the match preview and tactics analysis.
Here’s our alternative line-up projection.
