Man United Manager David Moyes has plenty of Glazer family money to work with. Fixing what’s wrong with Manchester United is not an issues of cold hard cash, the purse strings are open for Moyes to rehab this side which has fallen on hard times. However, it helps to have a fiscal surplus on your side, especially when your team has gone from reigning champions to mid table, and now out of the running for Champions League.
Man United are set to save an incredible £320k a week on wages, once Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra depart in the summer, reports the Daily Star.
All three contracts expire at the end of the season, and club captain Vidic confirmed that he’s out the door last week, with Inter Milan his most likely destination.
Vidic is on £110k a week, whilst Ferdinand earns £120k and Evra £90k. That works out to £16.64million a year on wages.
Ferdinand is likely to move to the American MLS, with the L.A. Galaxy and the Chicago Fire as the top destinations being considered. Evra will likely head to France, either Monaco or Paris St. Germain.
In other Manchester United personnel news, Marouane Fellaini suffered another setback on his road to recovery. Still healing from his wrist surgery, Fellaini now injured his hamstring. Wrist, back and groin problems have kept him out since October. And it’s thought he’ll be out at least two weeks.
