The summer transfer window has come and gone, but it’s never early to start talking about the January window and beyond. With that in mind, we have plenty of Manchester United transfer news, talk, rumors and gossip to discuss. Remember, until it’s a done deal, officially, take it with a grain of salt.
According to CalcioMercato, Juventus are still intent on trying to sign Anthony Martial to a pre-contract in January; when he’ll be in the final six months of his current contract. However, the Frenchman may not being going anywhere, as United are still intent on offering the forward a new contract extension reportedly worth £9 million (€10m) a year.
Numerous outlets have previously published reports claiming United Executive Vice Chairman Ed Woodward wants Martial to stay, while manager Jose Mourinho wants the 2015 summer transfer window deadline day addition (when Louis van Gaal was in charge) out of Old Trafford.
-Elsewhere United have postponed contract extension talks with Paul Pogba, according to ESPN. Although the Frenchman’s current deal runs until 2021, the club was reportedly trying to get the ball rolling early due to the “complicated nature of negotiations.”
Given some of the public comments made by Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola recently, sure we can see how things could get complicated quite easily. Paul Pogba spoke about his future with the club twice this week, and both times what he said invited a lot more speculation.
Finally, according to Esto, United have sent scouts to Liga MX, and they’re checking out Cruz Azul breakout star Roberto Alvarado. United have really had a very long run of great misfortune when it comes to wingers and attacking midfielders in the transfer market over the past couple of years.
They have spent a lot of money on promising players that have turned out to be busts. Perhaps this prospect could be the one that finally turns the tide.
