The Chilean has been training alone at Carrington after being blocked from entering the United States because of travel visa issues.
Manager Jose Mourinho said yesterday, at a news conference at UCLA that he wasn’t sure if or when Sanchez would be able to join up with the team on their USA tour. He also said it would be really important for Sanchez to make the trip, because the team needs him to work with the other players in attack.
-Mourinho can’t confirm that additional signings are on their way to Old Trafford this summer transfer window. However, he also refused to rule out the possibility.
“I’m not going to lie to you, I’m not going to say somebody is coming or nobody is coming,” he said before then expounding on the status of the three players that United have already added.
“We did Lee Grant because we have a fantastic young goalkeeper who needs to play football. Joel is a Manchester United goalkeeper but two years without football he has to play,” Mourinho continued.
“And to protect that position we got Lee, experience in Championship, Stoke City in the Premier League, so he is ready to fulfill that position. Joel is here with us, is good for him to play but then he will go on loan. Fred we did quite a long time ago, we started the process, we lost Michael Carrick and I think Fred is the kind of player we need to complement the qualities of our midfield players.
“Dalot is injured, a small injury, a small surgery, we didn’t want to lose him because of that and he’s recovering really well and we think he can start training back in England, not ready for start of the season.”
-Finally, former United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has said that his former teammate, midfielder Paul Pogba, has now answered his critics with his dominant World Cup performance.
“I played with him for two years and people like to give their opinion, which they have the right to do. They judge but I think the result speaks for itself,” Ibrahimovic said.
“You don’t need to answer by your mouth, you can answer by your feet, and do what you are good at. That is the way it is supposed to be and the way I like to do it.
“He is young. He won the World Cup, he was in the Champions League final (with Juventus), the Europa League final (with United), the European (Championship) final (with France) – and he won many titles at Juventus.”
“What more is there to say? Just enjoy the games and I know he will become better.”
