Man United News: Paul Pogba, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Michael Carrick

Update: the latest injury report, as of Thursday evening, and our MUFC starting XI prediction.

As another long, dull international break winds down, we move closer to Manchester United’s next fixture, a Saturday matinee which sees the Red Devils hosting Newcastle United. Let’s take a look at what news topics are currently circulating within the Man United internet universe and Twitter community right now.

For part two of our Man United news links go here.

Central defender Phil Jones returned to the club from England early this break after limping off injured in Three Lions’ 0-0 draw with Germany. England manager Gareth Southgate suggested in post game that the issue was a recurrence of the problem that forced him out of United’s shock defeat at Huddersfield Town.

In the “Early team news for Newcastle Clash” post on the club’s official website, writes that regarding Phil Jones “there is optimism that the centre-back could still be available.”

And that for “Fellow defender Marcos Rojo has revealed he is targeting a first-team return in December, as he is pencilled in for a Reserves run-out on Wednesday.”

Bleacher Report suggest that Paul Pogba won’t be ready time for the home contest against the Magpies this weekend.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is on the mend too, but he’s still a ways off from returning to action. When he does get back, he’ll greatly help United’s title chances, says Romelu Lukaku.

Elsewhere, the Manchester Evening News writes on the Jones, Pogba and Rojo situation, further adding an update on the team captain. M.E.N. writes that:

“Paul Pogba, Marcos Rojo and Michael Carrick have all resumed training and are on the verge of declaring themselves available.”
