It continues to be a very exciting summer at Manchester United, with plenty of topics to discuss. What offseason, right?
So let’s take a spin through the latest news and notes items making the rounds on the internet today.
-Club legends Ryan Giggs and Patrice Evra both made headlines earlier this week, but for very different reasons. Giggs gave his opinion on what specific needs he believes United should fill this summer transfer window. Evra for his hilarious trashing of Arsenal. Both men, along with another club icon, Roy Keane, are doing World Cup punditry this summer for ITV.
In a discussion about England and United/Three Lions defender Ashley Young, Giggs found the perfect opportunity to playfully throw shade at Evra. Hat tip to and transcriptions by Manchester Evening News.
“To be fair, I know a lot of people have discussed about Ashley Young,” Evra offered. “Since I left United I think he’s been one of the best left-backs playing for United.”
“And for England, I think they’ve got Danny Rose, he’s a specialist as well as a left-back. But I wasn’t surprised when they picked Ashley Young instead of another left-back.”
Giggs then replied to Evra: “To be fair they [United] have not had a good left-back since Denis Irwin.”
Evra had fun with it, responding with: “Why do you have to kill me like that Giggsy on TV?”
United officially announced and unveiled Fred, their first signing of the summer transfer window, yesterday.

“I’m really happy,” said Fred.
“I’m so happy to be here and to have the opportunity to play for this club. It’s a huge club with great history and it’s a real honor to perform for them.
“I’m just so happy to have completed the transfer and now look forward to playing for the club.
“When I was young, it was a name I used to hear and it was a name I used to see on computer games and I used to play with the team. For me, Manchester United means greatness.”
