Antoine Griezmann was the supposedly the number one transfer target for Manchester United as the 2017 summer window approached. Obviously, this narrative didn’t really go anywhere, but his name has resurfaced again as the next window will open again next week.
According to Marca however, United have cooled off their interest for the Frenchman. This is reportedly excellent news for Barcelona, who have made the Atletico Madrid forward their number one target.
Barca are looking to spend some more of that jackpot they received in return for Neymar, and “are expected to bolster their squad in the upcoming transfer windows and Griezmann has long been identified as a potential target,” Metro writes.
The Daily Mirror adds that “Barca’s transfer ban scuppered chances then but January could be the chance they’ve been waiting for.”
Players like Griezmann don’t really ever move in the January window though. Additionally, clubs like United don’t really ever buy in the summer window either.
