Manchester United are aware that there’s so much that needs to be done in terms of re-tooling their club. That’s why Man United apparently have set their own deadline date of sports to get everything accomplished.
It’s like a summer transfer window deadline day with a deadline day as David Moyes and company want to get most of their deals done this offseason before the World Cup begins in Rio.
The Manchester Evening News claim on March 9th that David Moyes has set a deadline to complete the majority of the club’s summer transfer business.
The report reads: “The club would not be drawn on names but M.E.N. Sport understands that Moyes has drawn up a list of targets and is looking to get his business done before the World Cup kicks off on June 12.”
The idea here is for Man United to avoid having to make frantic movements at the last minute, a la last summer’s transfer window.
From HITC Sport:
Getting key players in early will ensure they arrive in time for pre-season and David Moyes can spend as much time as possible working with them before the season kicks off.
The World Cup places a difficult strain on transfer deals, with key players often off-limits for several weeks due to wanting to focus on their national teams.
And today David Moyes confirmed that Man United is aiming to do just that.
Asked by reporters if he wanted to sign players before the World Cup, he said:
“Yeah, I might do. We are getting ourselves prepared now. We can’t do an awful lot until the end of the season but we will prepare as much as possible. You don’t always get all your ducks in a row but we will try to get as many of them as we can.”
“I know it has been difficult for a lot of people to accept and understand what is going on but we will make changes.
“We have said that now and everyone is well aware of it.”
