Louis van Gaal is not concerned that Manchester United have yet to make any new signings since the end of June with the manager insistent he wants to evaluate internally first. Since the purchase of Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw back to back, things have been extremely quiet on the transfer front. There’s still time, but not all that much time.
Also you have to figure that Louis van Gaal will jettison quite a few players before August 16th. He’ll replacements of course, but without Champions League football, they can go with a much smaller squad, maybe around 23 or 24 this year. So… Mats Hummels, Arturo Vidal, Thomas Vermaelen, Juan Cuadrado…we shall see if Louis van Gaal closes deals for any of them.
When asked if he was worried that as the transfer window enters its final month there has been no further strengthening, Van Gaal said:
“I want to give the current players an honest chance. We are winning everything, maybe we don’t need other players.”
This was at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, nicknamed “The Big House,” because it is the third largest stadium in the world. Here’s the full audio of the very brief press conference below:
