Are we seeing a boring brand of football from Manchester United and Louis van Gaal? Yes, we are. Is the club not getting the results commensurate with their transfer spending? Absolutely. They are underachieving greatly. However, the Van Gaal backlash has become more than a bit alarming and beyond a tad frightening.
Some people out there definitely need to relax, settle down and take a few deep breaths. There is never any excuse or justification for verbal threats; ever.
What’s downright scary about this situation is that the club’s concerns have already escalated beyond threats. They are genuinely worried about Van Gaal being in physical harm’s way. Now it hits home, literally. Louis van Gaal has beefed up security at his house, in addition to the security he already has at Old Trafford and at road games.
According to the Daily Mirror:
Louis van Gaal has recruited a team of security men to protect him and his wife.
The Manchester United boss is so concerned that he and his wife Truus may be targeted by angry fans that he has ramped up security around them.
The Van Gaals have 24-hour protection, with a detail of bodyguards stationed outside their luxury Cheshire apartment.
Van Gaal, 64, is taking the threat to his family’s safety so seriously that he has even started looking for a new home that offers greater privacy and security.
Yikes! This is really frightening for Louis van Gaal and his wife. Indeed it takes a really thick skin to manage in the Premier League. It takes an even thicker skin to manage at a giant club.
