It’s been rumored in the gossip magazines that Manchester United are looking to sell midfielder Juan Mata for £20m ($32m), with Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Valencia all keen on the Spaniard. This according to the Daily Express.
Mata is a great player, it’s just a shame that he didn’t quite fit in Chelsea and couldn’t secure a first team spot. Then when David Moyes bought him last January for a then club record £37.5 million…I just didn’t feel that Moyes could have used up to the best of his abilities. And now Juan Mata doesn’t seem to be in the good graces of new manager Louis van Gaal.
Juan Mata insists he’s not going anywhere though. All of the big money, big name summer buys squeezed Mata out of the first team, but he’s vowed to earn his his place in the starting xi.
“What we have to do is what I did against Palace — seize every opportunity and to try to help the team,” he told Cope. “Luckily on Saturday my goal was worth three points.”
Asked his opinion of his manager, the attacking midfielder told Mundo Deportivo: “He is an honest person who tells you things directly to your face. He has a strong character and great football knowledge.”
