You can feel the Christmas spirit taking at Manchester United. Following their 2-0 win at West Bromwich Albion yesterday, the players gave their shirts away to fans. Partly because “it’s the most, wonderful time, of the year,” as one Christmas carol claims.
Manager Jose Mourinho instructed his team to throw their shirts into the crowd, thereby giving the fans a very unique Christmas present.
“I told them to do that, [it’s] Christmas time. A shirt for a fan, coming direct from the game with sweat, means a lot.
“For them [United players], it is just another shirt that they would give to the kit man, or give to some friend, or they change with some West Bromwich Albion friends. I think to a fan it means a lot.”
“It is a pity that not everyone can get one but, for the ones who get it, I think it is a great feeling,” Mourinho concluded.
Indeed it is a great feeling. What a special experience and new prized possession for a devoted fan this holiday season.
“Make the yuletide gay,” as another Christmas carol says.
