Jose Mourinho was a midfielder in his playing days, but he’ll suit up in goal for a charity game later today. The Manchester United manager, currently on international break, will take part in the Game4Grenfell charity match at Loftus Road. Mo Farah, Alan Shearer and Olly Murs are some other big names taking part.
Jose Mourinho, part of Team Sheater, won’t be in the starting XI however as David James will get the call instead.
The Captain of Team Ferdinand, Mourinho’s opposition, said: “Ladies and gentlemen I have some huge transfer news ahead of Game 4 Grenfell at Loftus Road tomorrow. The great Jose Mourinho, resurrecting his professional career, has just signed for Team Shearer.” (transcript via Daily Mirror)
The purpose of the charity match is to raise money for those affected by the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire.
Jose Mourinho will return to the sidelines, and non-friendly action one week from today when United take on Stoke City. They will then open their UEFA Champions League Group stage play versus FC Basel three days later.
