Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho met the media a few hours ago to preview this weekend’s Premier League clash against fellow northwest England side Everton at Old Trafford. We have video of the entire media session for you here below via YouTube.
There were a whole host of topics covered in the Mourinho news conference, including: an update on the injury and fitness situation, his relationship with Marco Silva, the issues with Romelu Lukaku and the strike force, how a return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not going to happen/not an option and much more:
Mourinho simply responded “no” when asked is Ibrahimovic could come back and ease the scoring burden on Lukaku. The big Belgian hasn’t scored in eight games, his worst drought since he moved over from Everton in the summer of 2017.
“Well, against Juventus to give him [Lukaku] a break, I don’t think [Michael] Carrick can play as a striker,” Mourinho said. “Or we play with the players that we did or we decide to give a rest to Lukaku, then [Marcus] Rashford, who plays as a winger?”
“We are not in the best moment to try to think about resting players or try to find solutions. The solution is to use the players we have.
“One day he will score and one day his confidence levels will be back to normal, which clearly they are not [at the moment] but I always feel that.”
