Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho was sent off this past Saturday during his side’s 0-0 draw with Burnley. He then relocated to the front row in Old Trafford, but that’s actually closer to the pitch than where he already was, so he was then instructed had to move higher up and further away.
On Tuesday, he was hit with his second misconduct charge in the same week from from the Football Association. The first charge stemmed from his behavior in conjunction with the United-Liverpool draw at Anfield on October 17th.
Mourinho was charged for what he had to say about match official Anthony Taylor.
Mourinho has accepted the charges and will now serve a one match touchline ban and pay two fines- £50,000 and £8,000
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been given a one-match touchline ban for being sent off against Burnley.
The Portuguese was sent to the stands by referee Mark Clattenburg for an incident “in or around the tunnel area during half-time” of the goalless draw.
The Football Association also fined him £8,000 and he will serve the ban for the game against Swansea on Sunday.
In a separate offence, Mourinho has been fined £50,000 for comments he made about referee Anthony Taylor.
Case closed.
Of course, the Football Association has reportedly grown weary of fining Mourinho because they don’t truly believe that this course of action has been very effective at all. They believe that the match ban is a better way to go, because it has more potential to be corrective. We’ll see.
