Fabio Coentrao will formalize his loan move to Manchester United this week, according to Real Madrid’s former Director of Communications and current AS (a Spanish sports daily) journalist Joaquin Maroto. The Telegraph also ran the Fabio Coentrao today, and according to United fan site The People’s Person, “United may be able to secure the 25-year-old in time for him to be part of the match day squad to face Chelsea next weekend.”

On Monday, we reported that an agreement between Fabio Coentrao and United had been reached, with the release fee being the only aspect left to be negotiated.

And like we said on Monday, citing numerous sources, it would take a few days before the formal announcement would be made. It looks like it might be a few more days yet as we wait for “the ink to dry” on the contract. Reports in Portugal said the Fabio Coentrao bid was around 12 million pounds. According to Inside Spanish Football, Maroto “has confirmed that the deal is all but done and will be announced in the coming days.

AS, citing Diário de Notícias has also confirmed the story, in collaboration with the Sunday Telegraph, who also quote Manchester United sources that a deal has been reached.”

So the Fabio Coentrao deal is pretty much done now.

Of course, we still won’t really believe it until it’s formally announced.
