We all knew this was coming for a long time, but it didn’t become official until today- Ander Herrera is now a member of Paris Saint-Germain. Actually, PSG confirmed the news by accident yesterday when they made available their new kit in his number #21 (whoops).

They quickly corrected the error, but not before the media got wind of it. Anyway, it’s a moot point as Fourth of July saw the Parisian giants officially the Spanish midfielder as the newest member of the squad. With Herrera arriving on a free transfer, after leaving Manchester United, the Ligue 1 giants had a lot of money to spend on him.

United’s 2016-17 club player of the year has signed a lucrative five-year deal worth £300,000-a-week, according to the Mirror. It’s a major rise in pay from what he was making at Old Trafford, where he was reportedly making £130,000-per-week.

“Paris Saint-Germain is the biggest club in France, which continues to progress, and who plays to win all possible titles,” said Ander Herrera.

“I really wanted to go to Paris and wear those colors. The club has a very beautiful story and I am happy to be able to write new pages! Joining this club is an extraordinary sensation.”

“I also like the city. Paris is the most beautiful city in the world. I promise you three things: work, professionalism and passion.”

“I also promise to improve my level of French because I think that language is very important for the communication of a team.”

Ander Herrera becomes PSG’s second signing of the summer, having also signed Sevilla star Pablo Sarabia on a five-year deal.
