Sir Alex Ferguson does and always will have a tremendous pull over United supporters. Greater Manchester police have released an audio recording (linked below) of a drunken Manchester United fan calling the police emergency number 999 (the British equivalent of 911 in the United States) asking to speak to former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Hilarity ensues as the fan says he is upset after his team – now managed by David Moyes – were beaten by Sunderland on Wednesday in a penalty shootout in the Capital One Cup semifinal. Things have declined quite seriously after Sir Alex Ferguson left, but it’s unintentionally funny that this man believed he would find Sir Alex Ferguson at the police emergency hotline.
Ahhh, drunk logic indeed.
