Time for your daily David de Gea and Sergio Ramos updates. It’s a a never ending soap opera like Arturo Vidal was last summer. Will De Gea stay at Manchester United, or move to Real Madrid? Same question regarding Ramos (just reverse the teams). The two players’ potential transfer moves, if and when they happen, are somewhat inter-twined now.

This storyline has been discussed for weeks, going on months now. It had seemed that the chain reaction of events was about to start with current Real Madrid #1 Iker Casillas all set to move to Porto. There are conflicting reports out there on this right now.

Some outlets are claiming Casillas will say good bye in the next couple of days, while others are state that Los Blancos and Casillas haven’t been able to iron out terms yet. Clearly, Casillas has to move first before De Gea can move to his hometown; the Spanish capital.

On the United side of things… Manager Louis van Gaal spoke about this situation today at a press conference. He confirmed that De Gea would be joining the club on their preseason tour in the United States. The main point of the presser was to unveil Memphis Depay, who was signed way back on May 7th, but Van Gaal was naturally asked about the unresolved De Gea situation. A reporter asked him if he thought there could be a problem with De Gea being in America this summer.

The Dutchman responded: ‘I think he is a very professional player and he showed fantastic attitude until now and I think that for all my players, not only De Gea but others who have to behave themselves very professionally.”

‘It is also good that Memphis does that. That is the difficulty now for every manager. This period when players have to go or not have to go is the most difficult time.”

‘I cannot complain about the professional attitude of my players.’

The club flies to the United States on Monday.
