The agent of Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is playing the situation right- strike while the iron is hot. De Gea is arguably the world’s best goalkeeper, and this past weekend you saw the perfect illustration of evidence to back up that argument. De Gea had 11 saves, all in the second half, of United’s 1-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur.
He single-handedly saved the Red Devils with his man of the match performance, a game that saw the Spaniard set a new 2018-19 season high for single game saves by a Premier League keeper.
The De Gea camp has been working on settling his club future for quite some time now, but this week saw that topic back on the front pages again.
Reportedly, De Gea is seeking to become if not the highest paid player on United, then among the most salaried. And right now, it’s hard for anyone who’s been paying attention to argue against that.
De Gea also tops this week’s individual player Premier League power rankings, produced by NBC Sports. Here’s the top 10 below, go to this link for the full list of 20.
