Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho recently lamented all the issues that arise in trying to obtain the best players in the world in the transfer market. “Real Madrid sell who they want to sell, Barcelona sell who they want to sell, Bayern Munich sell who they want to sell,” the Portugese said.
“So then it is more difficult to have a very good market.” Something to think about when the silly season heats up in full this summer.
Today, Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge echoed that sentiment:
“I have to agree with Jose Mourinho — no club in the world can sign our players against our will.”
He then went on to add that he believes- “the best German and foreign players view Bayern differently these days.”
“I believe only Real Madrid are ahead of us as a football brand. Behind them come Barcelona, Manchester United and Bayern, three clubs at the same level.”
Bayern continue to roll on, as they have the ruling oligarchs of the German Bundesliga for most of recent history. They just sent a strong message to Europe too, in the way that they dismantled Arsenal in UEFA Champions League.
Not many would disagree with that short list as the top four clubs in world football. What a credit that is to Jose Mourinho then, as he’s coached at two of the top four. Not many could say that.
