Manchester United team captain Ashley Young will get his break started early, as he is suspended for tomorrow’s Premier League fixture at home against Brighton & Hove Albion. The match precedes the final international break of 2019, and reigning World Cup champion France will resume competition without United forward Anthony Martial as part of their roster.
Young thinks that is an absolutely wrong decision on the part of French manager Didier Deschamps, noting the fine form of the French forward and the huge difference Martial has made when he’s been in the lineup.
While Martial has been injured for much of the season thus far, he’s been extremely productive when fit, with five goals in nine games. His positive impact on front line mate Marcus Rashford can’t be understated, and Young pointed all this out.
‘The way Anthony plays with Marcus (Rashford) is unplayable at times. Anthony was a big miss when he was injured,” Young said.
“You can see he is a natural goalscorer. For me I think France are missing out. I can’t understand why he’s not in their squad. That is up to them but he can only get better.”
The upcoming break will see France take on Moldova and Albania in qualifiers for the 2020 European championships.
