In the ten games that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been in temporary charge of Manchester United, the club has nine wins, one draw and zero losses. As midfielder Ander Herrera has pointed out, the players have really clicked under the Norwegian’s guidance. If the Red Devils continue playing like this, MUFC will have no choice, but to give Solskjaer the job on a permanent basis.
If that’s the case, the owners of Molde, the club Solskjaer is currently contracted to, have given him their blessing. They would have no problem turning his loan deal into a permanent sale if United are keen on it. Of course, United are not going to stay undefeated under Solskjaer, especially with what’s ahead for the club.
This month brings a stretch in which they will face Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and Chelsea within a stretch of 12 days. It’s a very challenging gauntlet to be sure and Herrera pointed out that remaining undefeated is unattainable.
“That (going unbeaten) is impossible, the Premier League is so tough,” the Spaniard said. “City is a fantastic team and they lost away at Newcastle the other day.”
“In the Premier League it’s impossible to go unbeaten from when the manager came in, to have 25 or 30 games unbeaten.”
Up next for Solskjaer, Herrera and company is a trip to Fulham, the league’s second from bottom side with a very strong likelihood of being relegated at the end of the season. Herrera says the club needs to just shift its focus to this match on Saturday, and not look ahead any further.
“Let’s go game by game, because if you lose one game you regret,” he added. “Now for Fulham, then we will think about PSG.”
