Embattled Manchester United Manager David Moyes is very much on the hot seat. But he’s also expected to be around this summer, and given around £200m to build his team up Old Trafford, with six players at the top of his shopping list, according to the Daily Express.
All six are names we’ve reported on consistently in the past, so none of them are surprising. And Toni Kroos leads the way at the top of the list. Again not a shocker. So let’s take a look at six names on Moyes summer shopping list in more detail.
1. Toni Kroos
Toni Kroos supposedly told his friends he wishes to leave Bayern Munich and instead sign with Manchester United in the summer transfer window. Currently, Kroos is signed to stay at Allianz Arena through next season, but he’s turned down opportunities to extend his contract on multiple occasions. According to The Mirror, the midfielder is ready to pursue a move to Old Trafford given the potential £200,000-per-week the Germany international would earn.
United are prepared to pay £40 million to secure the acquisition of Toni Kroos, yet Bayern remain confident the German International will remain in Deutchsland. Interesting how all this going while while Bayern and United are facing each other in the Champions League round of 8.
2. Seamus Coleman
Seamus Coleman is rumored to be the next Manchester Unitedtransfer target. Supposedly, David Moyes is looking to his former side, Everton to pick up his next acquisition. The Ireland international, Seamus Coleman, has stepped his game up considerably this year, and with it things are much better at Goodison Park this Premier League season.
Arsenal is rumored to be after Coleman as well. Of course, it’s all set to happen in the summer transfer window, when AC Milan is likely to jump in as well. Clarence Seedorf is replacing right-back Ignazio Abate and Coleman has been recommended as one to bear in mind.
3. Marco Reus
Getting Marco Reus is going to cost even more than the Red Devils thought. United know they need to offer £29.3million for Marco Reus to trigger his buy-out clause with Borussia Dortmund. They are currently trying to persuade the 24-year-old to sign a new contract, with the aim of increasing his release clause.
But that’s only the beginning of the expenses!
The Mail reported that the total cost for Marco Reus will be 40 million pounds. Moyes knows it will be challenging to get the types of players he wants on his side, and that midfield will or should be the number one priority.
4. Eliaquim Mangala
Eliaquim Mangala at Manchester City are close to closing a deal.Mangala almost joined Manchester City during the January transfer window but they were not able to close a deal for the Frenchman currently playing for Porto. City was expected to make a second attempt at Eliaquim Mangala this summer, and Manchester United have been scouting him as well.
David Moyes has sent scouts to watch him play in person, so it appears both Manchester clubs are after him.
5. Luke Shaw
He’s emerged as a high interest target. The Left Back has been linked to Manchester United in the past, but now it seems like the Red Devils have upped the ante.
The Daily Star claims that David Moyes is prepared to pay the 18-year-old a staggering £75,000-a-week to join United in the summer.
Luke Shaw signed a five year deal last July. However, it’s becoming clear that United will do whatever it takes to land him. In addition to Chelsea, they’ll have to fight off Manchester City who also are said to be in the race. Starsport believes that United are in the prime position to land Shaw, despite the fact that his parents live close to Chelsea’s training ground and he’s a Blues fan.
6. William Carvalho
William Carvalho has been coveted for some time. That’s no secret. We’ve posted about the midfielder’s transfer rumors over and over again. As have numerous publications. Now it appears William Carvalho is indeed coming to Old Trafford. A £37 million fee has been agreed upon with Sporting Lisbon to sign Carvalho before the World Cup, according to The Mirror.
As you know, David Moyes and United have set an internal deadline to get all their summer transfers done before the global tournament in Rio begins. Steve Bates of the Sunday People claims Carvalho’s agent was given a tour of the United training ground in Carrington and that he will join United before he begins playing for Team Portugal in the World Cup (h/t People’s Person)
