If Raheem Sterling wasn’t already gone from Liverpool before this….he’s sooooooooooooooo leaving Anfield now. Sterling took home the club’s best young player of the year award as the team’s end of season awards tonight. When he gave his acceptance speech for the award, he was booed mercilessly, BY HIS OWN FANS.
Here’s more on it from @ The Buzzer:
Sterling feels like he’s been bullied into signing a new long term deal by the club. He also believes that the club has not shielded him effectively from public criticism. Liverpool fans (those that boo him, not speaking about all LFC supporters) believe that Raheem Sterling is acting a spoiled, entitled diva, who’s overrating his own talents and abilities.
There’s a good chunk of the football/soccer world which wholeheartedly agrees with that assessment.
Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Real Madrid have all been linked to Sterling. However, the new favorite in the derby to acquire his signature is Manchester City.
The awards show moment just feels like the symbolic end for the relationship between Liverpool and Raheem Sterling
