Talk about “jumping the gun!”
Okay, obviously, these Liverpool 2013-14 Premier League Champions t-shirts were printed to be antagonistic, and to get attention. I doubt any true Liverpool FC supporters are laughing at this, especially since the shirts came out BEFORE the 2-0 defeat at home to Chelsea today.
The Reds chances for their first championship since 1990 took a major hit with the critical loss at Anfield today. Credit Jose Mourinho, the self-ascribed “special one” and his “masterclass.” However, Liverpool still have 80 points, remain in first, with a two point lead on Chelsea. Their next match is on the fifth versus Crystal Palace. Chelsea takes on Norwich City on the 4th. Manchester City is in third with 77 points, but they are the only club that actually controls its own destiny in the title race. They have a game in hand over the two other contenders, and hold the critical goal differential tie-breakers.
According to Soccer Power Index, here are your probabilities of winning the Premier League for the three contenders:
Now Before the weekend
Liverpool 46.8% 84%
Chelsea 5.8% 2%
Man City 47.4% 14%
