It continues to be a very exciting summer at Liverpool, with plenty of topics to discuss. Some of the Reds have already arrived at the Melwood training facility to begin their preparations for the 2018-19 season.
So let’s take a spin through the latest news items making the rounds on the internet today.
We start with reigning PFA and Premier League Player of the Year Mohamed Salah, and his fellow scoring sensation in the front line, Sadio Mane. Both will be back with the team in plenty of time to make the trip across the pond for the preseason exhibition tour.
Both players unfortunately saw their World Cup campaigns end early, as neither Salah’s Egypt, nor Mane’s Senegal were able to qualify for the knockout round.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told LiverpoolFC.com:
“They come back before the tour to America — the 20th, I think. They had then three [weeks] plus one, two, three days’ holiday. That’s what you need to have.”
“We are in July, we started the preseason last year in July, so for 12 months these boys have had three weeks off. That’s quite intense and now the next 11 or 12 months are waiting for them! That’s what we try to give all of them, then they will be involved and then we have to see.
“Of course, they then have to do a lot of fitness work in the USA and we will see when they can play or whatever. But that they are back will be really good.”
The Reds begin their preseason with a match that will be extremely special for Klopp, as the opponent is his former side, Borussia Dortmund. Liverpool takes on BVB in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 22.
