The Premier League’s marquee game this weekend has now gone final- Liverpool went to Tottenham Hotspur, who are still playing at their temporary home of Wembley Stadium, and emerged victorious 2-1. The Reds remain perfect on the season, and stay top of the table, pending Chelsea and Watford’s results.

For Spurs, they have now dropped their last two matches, after having won the first three. Let’s take a look at some of the top trending topics in the wake of this one, focusing on the Liverpool side in this post. For the Tottenham side, go to this post.

Man of the match Georginio Wijnaldum scored his first ever Premier League away goal. This was his 58th game on the road and his 55th shot attempt in an away game.

Congratulations to Wijnaldum, it was a long time coming, but well deserved. Today was just definitely the Reds’ day, and he was a big part of that.

The game winning goal was scored by Roberto Firmino, who got great help from Andrew Robertson and Sadio Mane.

This is the first time since 1990-91 that Liverpool has won their first five league games. Obviously, it is the first time that they have done so in the Premier League era. It’s clear that manager Jurgen Klopp is really building something special at Anfield.
