Jurgen Klopp and Marcelino Garcia Toral in Heated War of Words

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a very entertaining man with a great sense of humor. He’s also very emotional, both in good times and in bad. We simply wouldn’t have it any other way.

Because he gives us great moments like the time he told a reporter, in good spirits, after a big win “don’t ask me that shit,” or last night, following Liverpool’s dominating 3-0 win over Villareal in the Europa League Semifinal when he tried to get out of his post match press conference early (video here).

Sometimes Jurgen Klopp and his emotions rub people the wrong way however. He had a very heated exchange with Villareal Manager Marcelino Garcia Toral last night, in a match that saw the Reds eliminate the Yellow Submarine of Villareal from the Europa League at Anfield. It’s poetic that the yellow submarine sinks in the birthplace of The Beatles.

The vanquished feels that the victor went to far in enjoying the triumph.

“Klopp is who he is,” the Villarreal coach said in his postgame press conference. “A great coach, but in the regards to the rest, I won’t keep it to myself — I wouldn’t want to be like him. Today, he went too far with his celebrations.”

Oh snap!

So Jurgen Klopp responded in his own postgame news conference by saying: “I would not be like him one second in my life — and he is a great manager.”
