Four games in to the Premier League season, we have yet to see Liverpool summer transfer window addition Fabinho in action. The 24-year-old midfielder was signed from Monaco with much fanfare, but after being an unused substitute on opening day, he has failed to even make the last three match day squads.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has publicly said that Fabinho is medically fine, and that his absence is just simply due to having a fully fit squad, with depth at talent in the midfield. In an interview with Globo Esporte, the Brazilian confirmed that he’s feeling great right now, and has adjusted nicely to life at Anfield and the Premier league.
“My start has been good, a good adaptation. The preseason was very good, we had nine friendlies and I played nine,” he said.
“It was good to play against English teams to see what the rhythm, the intensity and the physique is like. I am adapting to the team’s style of play.”
He then went on to say that the other Brazilian internationals on the Reds have helped him with the adjustment.
“The more experienced players have helped me — the technical team as well. Me and my wife like the city, we already have a home. Firmino is being a great guy, his family has given good support to me and Alisson,” Fabinho continued.
“It’s been fine. Having Brazilians in the team helps. Now it’s really about making my debut. I’m fine, training well and prepared.”
With everyone currently healthy, playing time within a deep midfield is certainly competitive. However, after the international break comes heavy fixture congestion for the Reds, and with it, plenty of opportunities for Fabinho.
