Manchester United midfielder/defender or perhaps defender/midfielder Daley Blind says his side simply needs to want in more in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League clash versus Liverpool on Thursday. When two arch-rivals like this meet, emotions will be very very high on both sides.
There should be zero issues with getting up for this one, but you never know who’s going to be more amped.
“It’s a busy schedule coming up again and Liverpool will be a great game to play in, especially as it’s now in the Europa League,” Blind said. “You’re either in or out, through to the next round or not, so it’s very important for us. They will say it’s important for them too, so we have to show that we want it more.”
The two most successful clubs in the history of English football will meet in European competition for the very first time. Fittingly, the stakes are quite high. It’s a round of 16 clash with the winner advancing towards the chance to be crowned Europa League champion, and this earn their spot back into the big boy tournament for next year.
Considering that both of these two fallen heavyweights are way on the outside looking in, it’s really their only shot back into the European Cup.
