Liverpool attacking midfielder and winger Philippe Coutinho is no doubt the Reds star player. Manager Jurgen Klopp is the star of the team, but Coutinho is the team’s best player. Center back Dejan Lovren sees that belief and kicks it up a notch.
The Croatian sensation in defense believes that his Brazilian teammate is the best player in the English Premier League.
Lovren told a group of assembled media:
“In my opinion, he’s the best player in the league at the moment.
“He wasn’t just outstanding against Palace — he’s been like that all year. His crosses were perfect. We scored from his set pieces.
“He is a main part of the team, but it’s not an individual thing that wins us points, it’s teamwork.
“But of course when a team works really well, individual qualities come out. I think that man against Palace was Philippe Coutinho.”
Liverpool have amazed the football world this season by rising all the way to the top of the table thus far. They are currently even with Manchester City and Arsenal on points. Coutinho is a major reason why.
Lovren on the team’s success thus far: “We are in the race. We need to keep on working hard.”
“I think we have shown this year that we can play against the big teams. We are not scared. I think the biggest opponent for us is us.”
