If you thought the summer transfer window talk was done, just because deadline day passed in England last Thursday, then you were wrong. Up until the end of the month, English club players can still leave, provided it is to a team abroad, and we have more Chelsea FC loaning out news for you today.
Chelsea has loaned out so many players in recent transfer windows that their club name has even turned into a verb, colloquially, for doing so. Today, you can add midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and striker Michy Batshuayi to the very long list.
Let’s start with Batshuayi, who moved over from Marseille in the summer of 2016. He hasn’t really been given much of a true chance at Stamford Bridge, but made the most of the opportunities he was granted while on loan to Borussia Dortmund last season.
He showcased his talent and potential with BVB, and now he’ll get the chance to replicate that production in La Liga with Valencia. In making the move to Spain, he turned down to the chance to sign with Sevilla, on a season long loan with the option of transitioning to a permanent deal next summer.
While many Chelsea fans aren’t happy to see him go, this transaction certainly signifies a major vote of confidence in Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud by the club.
Switching over to Bakayoko, he’s been essentially a bust since he moved over for £40 million from Monaco last summer, in what was certainly a bizarre transfer saga.
The French international is just one year into his five year Chelsea deal, but he is now off to Italy on a season long loan. He has completed his medical with AC Milan and comes over for a fee reportedly in the neighborhood of €5 million.
