Former Chelsea FC and England National Team Captain Ray Wilkins passed away at age 61. Wilkins, who played for 11 teams in his club career, including Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain, suffered a cardiac arrest last week. He was then placed into an induced coma at St George’s Hospital in Tooting.

From there, he battled for his life until Wednesday, and Chelsea announced the tragic news a couple of hours ago.

Ray Wilkins also managed four clubs in his career: Chelsea (caretaker), Jordan, Queens Park Rangers and Fulham.

He most recently served as an assistant coach at Aston Villa.
