The elite, world class form that Eden Hazard displayed during the World Cup for Belgium has carried over to the club level with Chelsea. In 2018, he’s been playing as well as anybody in Europe, and some football observers and pundits have said just that.
However, he won’t be taking his talents to Greece as the Blues commence their 2018-19 European campaign with a Europa League clash at PAOK Salonika tomorrow night.
According to The Sun, Hazard did not travel to Greece with his teammates, and he will be rested for this one.
The London based newspaper published photos of Chelsea departing for the road game, but Eden Hazard was nowhere to be found.
The Belgian winger bagged a hat trick last weekend in the one-sided win over Cardiff City, and has thus earned the night off. The 27-year-old’s taking the day off is part of manager Maurizio Sarri’s expected squad rotation for this fixture. Look for some fringe players to get some long awaited playing time in this one. This could be a great chance for Ruben Loftus-Cheek to get the minutes that he’s been seeking.
Chelsea, who have started the Premier League season perfect, are heavily favored in this one.
