Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount underwent a scan, due to the ankle problem he encountered midway through the second half of his side’s 4-4 draw with Ajax on Tuesday night. Mount had to be helped off in the 60th minute of the match, and he now finds himself a doubt for Saturday when the Blues host Crystal Palace.
“They’ve strapped his ankle and hopefully it’s relatively minor but it’s one for the morning,” said manager Frank Lampard after the game. With Mount being called up for England duty this international break, it’s safe to say that the scan didn’t show any serious damage.
Ross Barkley is thought to be a doubt for this match as well, but he was also named to the England team for this next set of internationals, so he should be fit for the weekend fixture as well.
Elsewhere, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Antonio Rudiger remain long term injury absentees while midfielder Jorginho is suspended for this one.
Flipping over to the Eagles, Mamadou Sakho and Connor Wickham are out injured while Andros Townsend, Cheikhou Kouyate (Injured), Gary Cahill (Injured) and James McArthur are doubts due to various fitness problems.
