The Karim Benzema to Arsenal rumors were laughed off the home pages, as they should have been given the now famous “clowns” comment Benzema made in a TwitPic. Now the potential striker to the Gunners stories circulating amidst the Twitterverse, blogosphere, cyberspace and media world revolve around Paris St. Germain hit man Edinson Cavani.

Again don’t buy it.

We know that Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger feels pressure to buy more new players, he just said so. But more recently than that he publicly downplayed the desire/interest in buying a striker.

“I’m not especially worried because I know we can score goals,” Wenger told the club’s official website. Read more.

Of course, what’s Wenger supposed to say when publicly when it comes to buying a striker? The more he says he needs one, the more the price goes up. He’s not going to act in a maladaptive manner. Still, we don’t even know is Edinson Cavani is even interested in a move to London, or if PSG have any desire to sell.

With less than a week until the window closes, it’s a lot to figure out, especially given the scope of a potential deal.  The bigger the profile of the player, the more complicated the transaction would need to be.
