David Ospina admits he could likely leave Arsenal for Everton

For multiple weeks, there’s been talk that Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina will be heading for the exit door following the arrival of Petr Cech from Chelsea. Once the Gunners and Blues agreed on that £10 million deal for Cech, it seemed inevitable that the current #1 would be heading elsewhere.

David Ospina has described a potential move to Everton this summer as a “great possibility.”

Ospina replaced Wojciech Szczesny as Arsenal’s first-team goalkeeper last season, and he’s likely looking to continue to play first team football somewhere.

‘They are a very competitive team, which showed significant things during the last season,” Ospina said of the Toffees.

‘With a good manager and they play good football, it is a team to take into account and a great possibility.”

Ospina didn’t say that he’s entirely committed to a move to Goodison Park. He hasn’t ruled out staying at The Emirates. He even said that he looks forward to the ideal of working alongside Cech; and having the opportunity to learn and grow. At least for now during the preseason.

“During my holidays I’m analyzing a lot of things and then I’ll have a conversation with the manager.”

‘For me it will be an honor to play alongside a keeper with that experience,” Ospina said of Cech.

For now, Ospina is certainly saying all the right things. He’s currently on holiday from Arsenal following an extended commitment in the Copa America. The keeper helped to lead Colombia to a deep run in the tournament for South American supremacy. Since it will be a bit before he returns to the club, it might be awhile before this move could be finalized.
