It’s January, the transfer window is open, and thus it’s time to talk Arsenal FC transfer rumors. We begin where else, but with Alexis Sanchez, who was the subject of a Manchester City bid in the summer time. Pep Guardiola hasn’t ruled out making another bid this month, admitting that the club is having “internal meetings” about it, and Marca reports today that this process could now be accelerated, triggered by the injury to Gabriel Jesus.
Yes, we are well aware that absolutely everybody else in the world has posited this same theory- the Jesus injury opens up the door to the Alexis move.
The good news for Jesus is that his knee ligament injury wonโt require surgery, but the Brazilian will still be out a month or two.
Additionally, the comments Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger made yesterday about Sanchez and Mesut Ozil makes it seem like he is now resigned to the fact that he could lose both players at the end of the year. Thus the Chilean forward moving on to Man City might now start to seem like a logical inevitable conclusion.
-Elsewhere the first January signing for the Gunners could be- Konstantinos Mavropanos from PAS Giannina? That’s the claim made by ESPN FC, who have a report today on the defender and Greek international. The publication says that the two clubs are:
“negotiating a ยฃ2 million deal that would likely see Mavropanos, 20, sent on loan to Werder Bremen in order to gain more first-team experience, the source said.”
Goal, on the other hand, says that this deal is already done, and the signing complete. The website says that Arsenal had an advantage in getting this doneย due to “their new chief scout Sven Mislintat having close links with the player’s agent from his time at Borussia Dortmund.”
