Arsenal FC headed into the international break on fire, having nine in a row across all competitions. Almost all of their entire team is currently in fine form, but the stellar striker partnership of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazatte are playing especially world class right now. The Gunners do look like bonafide league title contenders.
And given all the injured players who will be coming back into the team now, it should theoretically only get better.
Midfielder Mesut Ozil is back in full training now after having missed the 5-1 rout of Fulham this past weekend due to a back spasm.
Having announced his retirement from international football this summer after the World Cup, he is not on duty with Germany right now. The Daily Mirror reports that another midfielder, the versatile Ainsley Maitland-Niles, “is also due to return to training next week” ahead of the Gunners next match, when they take on Leicester City on October 22.
Petr Cech and Laurent Koscielny remain long term absentees for Arsenal FC. The north London side has won six in a row in league competition after having started the season with losses to Manchester City and Chelsea. Those two sides, along with Liverpool, are the only three clubs currently ahead of them in the table.
Arsenal sits fourth, with 18 points, while the three aforementioned sides are tied atop the table with 20 points each.
